Reproduction and Feminist Peformance: Life, Love, Sexuality
Introduction: 25. April, afterwards in 14th days rhythm
9. 5., 23. 5., 6. 6., 20. 6., 4. 7., 18. 7.
The seminar will be focused on the feminist critique of reproduction and the ways how notion of reproduction is explored in feminist performance from 1970thies on. The focus will be especially on the materialistic analysis of the oppression of women (Delphy) and the feminist critique of the Marxist understanding of reproduction (Federici, Della Costa). We will examine different materialist feminist readings of sexuality, motherhood and the materialist critique of the housework. We will also study the proposals how to think about reproduction in the relation to the development of technology and biotechnology (Firestone, Haraway, Preciado) and how this development opens new ways of control over the body but also new approaches to the relationship between post-humanism and reproduction. The topic of reproduction is closely related to the emancipation and radical critique of capitalism and has an important role also in feminist performance, which was on the one hand dealing with the deconstruction of the classical role of women and on the other, also enabling practices which were queering the domesticity and giving visiblity to futuristic reproductive practices (Mary Kelly, Gina Pane, Linda Montano, Vlasta Delimar, Cecilia Vicuna, Katalin Ladik, Anna Mendieta, Rozsika Parker, Tanekeya Word, Denenge Akpem, Yara-el-Sherbini).
