Sprache: Englisch

In this course we will experiment with different choreographic approaches of dealing with one´s voice and with language. What about the voice of the dancing body? What is a choreographic approach to text? We will discuss about the status of text and the voice in contemporary choreographies and analyze performances in which dancing and speaking, the voice and the body, movement and text are treated equally (in terms of their development, composition and performance).
The texts that we work with in this course will be developed in sessions of performative (re)writing, story telling as well as in performative interviews and improvisations. We will explore forms of speculative narration/fabulation and (mis)guiding and will investigate different ways of combining moving with the use of one´s voice and forms of spatializing/choreographing text-fragments.
The course will include practical exercises and tasks, improvisations, the development of performance-fragments or sketches, discussions, readings and screenings of (scenes of) performances by Mette Edvardsen (Black), Claire Vivianne Sobottke (Strange Songs), Philipp Gehmacher´s series Walk and Talk, Jonathan Burrows (Speaking Dance), Andrea Maurer and Frans Poelstra (Poelstra stolpert, Maurer sägt, oder im Fall fliegt es nach unten) and Begum Ercias (Voicing Pieces).
The development of a scenic project in the frame of the course is possible.
