BA 03/04/05/09/10/11
MA 01/03/04/05
CuP 01/02/05/09

In the seminar we will examine the connections between Marxism and performance through the notion of labour of performer and labour of the artist. We will read texts in which Marxist philosophers articulate and imagine labour (Marx, Virno, Hard and Negri, Federici) and study how these theories can be related to the performance. We will examine the historical relationship between theater and Marxism (Piscator, Meyerhold, Gramsci, Rancière) and study contemporary theater and performance forms which are addressing the notion of living labour, production of performance, the disappearance between life and labour.
