In order to guarantee the optimal conditions for the artistic questioning of what theatre can be, the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies is equipped with two rehearsal stages (black boxes with light, sound and video technics). Additional rehearsal spaces are available at the Justus-Liebig-University and the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.

For the audiovisual practice, the Institute is fitted with a video and sound studio, including recording studio, in addition to technical equipment for rent that is for use outside the Institute, as it can be the case, for example, with site specific performances.

A new theatre building with more and larger rehearsal spaces is being currently planned and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.

The Institute also has an own mediatheque with a holding of ca. 1500 DVDs and 4000 VHS-cassettes and a sound archive with CDs and LPs.
