Justus-Liebig-Universität GießenInstitut für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft

Information Justus-Liebig-University

The Institute for Applied Theatre Studies belongs to Faculty 5 – Language, Literature, Culture – of the Justus-Liebig-University Gießen.

For further information about studying at JLU you can read more here, such as information for international students, the application and admissions procedure (only applicable after having passed the artistic admission test), on university deadlines, the registrar’s office responsible for your department (including, for example, admittance to the Bachelor and Master Thesis), the student union, the AStA and the admissions office.

Anyone interested in studying at the Institue and requiring support or advise, should refer to the university’s advisory service. As not all information are available in German, we also recommend the International Office, where you'll find help in finding your way around the university. Especially important for potential applicants is the central student service (program specific advise is offered by Eva Holling) which advises on all issues regarding degree opportunities, and the application and admission procedure. For further information concerning costs and financing options (BAFöG, tuition fees, scholarships) you can visit the social councelling service located next to the student union. For further inforamtion on the various institutional and social issues, the webpage's directory can be of help. Currently, universities in Hessen have no tuition fees, however, a so-called „semester fee“ of around 260 euro, however, is to be paid.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the institute, can visit during the annual open day, the Hochschulinformationstag (HIT), which is aimed at senior high school students and Bachelor students interested in studying in a Master's Program and which takes place during January.

Alternatively, to gain a more unique insight into the workings of the institute and to meet current students, the annual student-organized theatre festivals, the Theatermaschine and the Diskurs festival, are open to all.
